John is a seasoned executive focused on the financial services industry where he has built a successful track record in numerous leadership roles. He has served as a trusted advisor to the C-suite and Boards of multiple enterprises, publicly and privately held, on topics ranging from regulatory matters, digital transformation, acquisitions, fintech partnerships, digital assets, IPOs and growth strategies. John brings a wealth of insights gained through his twenty-five-year career focused on advising lenders and financial institutions across audit, tax and consulting roles with large global and national public accounting and consulting firms. Prior to joining CMG he served as the North American Financial Institutions Enterprise Leader alongside his role as the Risk Consulting Financial Services Industry Leader for RSM US LLP, the fifth largest public accounting and consulting firm in the US.
In his Financial Institutions leadership role John was responsible for driving collaboration across all lines of business to ensure growth and profitability targets are met along with serving on the Financial Services combined leadership team. John directed all aspects of the Risk Consulting Financial Services practice with responsibility for managing a multi-disciplinary group of over 300 professionals delivering 1st, 2nd and 3rd line of defense consulting services to financial institution, capital market, insurance, specialty finance and asset management clients.
John prides himself on the relationships he has built throughout his career. This network of skilled professionals enables him to act as a connector that creates value for companies, colleagues and associates. His outgoing leadership style allows him to increase the speed of trust while motivating diverse teams to achieve stated objectives and key results.
John holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University with a minor in Communication Studies and is a certified public accountant with an active license in the state of Illinois. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Illinois with a focus on Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Digital Marketing. He was named to The Consulting Report list of Top 25 Financial Services Consultants and Leaders for 2024 (#8) and 2025 (#4). He is also regularly cited by media and industry publications as an expert on financial markets and economic matters and is regularly invited to speak at industry events on these topics.
