Founded in 1893, Bank CMG (formerly Greenwoods State Bank) is an FDIC state chartered community bank headquartered in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. For more than a century we have served families, businesses, and farms across Jefferson, Green, Rock, Racine, Walworth, and Waukesha counties, earning trust through local decision making, reinvesting deposits in our neighborhoods, and building the personal relationships only a hometown bank can offer.

In the first quarter of 2025, Christopher M. George, founder of CMG Financial established in 1993, acquired Greenwoods Financial Group. The partnership added capital strength and product depth while preserving our community focus. Day-to-day banking remains local and familiar, with the same people, places, and services our customers trust. Deposits remain FDIC insured, and account numbers, routing numbers, digital and mobile access, and branch operations are unchanged.

Bill McDonald, Chief Executive Officer since 2010, and James “Jim” Hegenbarth, President, lead the bank with complementary experience and vision. Hegenbarth brings decades of community banking leadership and currently serves as vice chair elect of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. Together with a seasoned senior leadership team, McDonald and Hegenbarth are guiding Bank CMG into its next chapter while honoring the values that have defined it since 1893.

On October 1, 2025 we will adopt the name Bank CMG, reflecting both our heritage and our forward-looking partnership. Customers will see enhancements over time, including access to innovative mortgage and homeownership solutions such as the All in One Loan and HomeFundIt, along with continued investment in technology and affordability initiatives, including a modern digital banking platform and Zelle. Drawing on a broader and well-capitalized mortgage banking network with national reach, Bank CMG will offer a wider product set and competitive innovation while preserving the hometown values that define our service. Our mission is to deliver a broader range of financial solutions and cutting-edge service while staying true to the principles that have guided us for more than 130 years.
